BuzzFeed put out a video recently showing guys trying on Andrew Christian swimwear. In my Facebook feed it said Straight guys try on Andrew Christian. One thing I didn't realize is that guys are are afraid of the bulge who cares it's part of our anatomy just like women's breasts. The second thing was they found some of the shorts to be small, I've definitely been in my own world it doesn't phase me that a speedo or thong swimsuit is skimpy anymore. I don't think about it all that much I just wear what I want to. What do you guys think?

Frank, I think we are all biased because we are already admitted speedo lovers, so yes, none of us have a fear of the bulge. I do think that for North American non-speedo wearers, (and the North American females that say that they do not appreciate guys in speedos), that the bulge is probably the #1 factor. But I think it is also the irrational fear of fully exposing the thighs, and also maybe how snugly that speedos wrap the ass. All the things that we all LOVE about speedos! For me, I actually love the freedom of fully exposed legs and thighs even more than the bulge factor. And I love the tightness and smoothness of a speedo backside that covers the ass, but just barely, and I like exposing a LOT of skin, which is why I love the little Asian cut speedos. But I digress... obviously, all the things I love about speedos are not mutually enjoyed by most North Americans. But probably shared by a LOT more than are willing to admit it, and worse yet, willing to publicly do anything about it. That's what separates us from the Europeans.

I think if they had worn more conservative speedos they probably wouldn't have felt so awkward about it.

Oh dear god they got it wrong
The title of the video should be 'straight American men try on super-gay swimwear by super-gay designer Andrew Christian"
I'm gay and happy about it, but I would not be seen dead in AC, it's marketed at Circuit boys and gogo dancers
You wouldn't catch anyone wearing these anywhere other than a gay beach, or gay beach/pool party or at a gay resort.
I've seen some very pretty gay boys wearing them at pools in Sydney and they look hideous, but they don't swim, they just lounge around tanning, and they are regarded with disdain by the actual swimmers.

Can you see a straight boy wearing AC for swimming laps? No
Can you see a gay guy wearing AC for swimming laps? No
Could you see any man wearing AC at the beach with his wife and kids around? No
Are all AC models gay? Yes

In Perth you can pick up at the swimming pools hell easy just by talking to the guy in Aussiebums. Aussiebum is a gay brand, you have to buy it online, you can't walk into a sports store and buy them, so on that note; no straight boy is going to go shopping online for a speedo, stop in to Aussiebum, browse the site and say "Oh, this looks straight and masculine" and make a purchase (I am presuming everyone here has seen Aussiebums' latest range, in my opinion they are all hideous, bright pastel colours and idiotic childish or effeminate patterns and cuts). Same with Andrew Christian.
Another example is my BF bought a couple of Marcuse speedos and he will only wear them with me at the beach in private, he won't wear them when we go swimming at a public pool as he knows they are a very risque cut and might offend someone.

Guys if you want to give speedo wearers a bad name, chuck on a pair of ACs and wear them to a public pool. Go on, I dare ya....

I have to disagree on your reference to Aussiebum. Not all their swimwear is gay. I am not gay and I own three different swimsuits by Aussiebum. I have worn them to the beach in Punta Cana and when I swim in the pool.

I agree with what you have said 100%. It gives people that want speedos to come back a bad rap. Like the suites they wore were just too revealing and you are right now straight guy will be caught wearing those. Thats why I said if they had worn regular speedo style suits like Adidas, Speedo, Nike or heck Aussiebum suits they would probably have liked them more. Andrew Christian on the other hand is too much in my opinion. I purchased some of their underwear and wished I had never had, the quality is crap for the prices they ask.

I agree this is what I was saying in the other thread about this video. AC as a brand are far too revealing. It should have been either normal speedos or even fashion brands. AC are amazing but to most this kind of video will just perpetuate the idea that speedos are too revealing and disgusting

Texas is right here, Andrew Christian does design their suits to be very masculine enhancing, thus thrusting our manhood forward for all to see, and mainly for the guys to notice.

Is this a bad thing? No, if you want a guy to notice and approach you. Yes, if you want to be known as the guy just out there to swim, enjoy their swim, enjoy their day on the beach, and be that normal guy. AC's do not promote that normal guy, they project the guy that wants to promote themselves, and more so, to the other guy, in a rather in-your-face forward way.

AC's certainly have their place in the bedroom, but not on the beach.

I agree that the title and concept are off. Andrew Christian does not represent "European" swimwear, nor did they they wear them in Europe. I'm guessing they googled "men's swimwear" and an AC store popped up as closest, they went in, looked for a bikini style, and all they found were these. Or, more likely, they deliberately sought out the most outrageous suits because they were trying to be funny. If they made the title "AC" instead of "European", they would not have gotten nearly as much attention.

As for the comments here, I mostly disagree. Not all of their suits are so "in your face". Not only am I straight and love AC, my wife does too. Out of 300 different pair of underwear, these easily make up the highest percentage. Apparently, this was communicated to a female friend of my wife, and her husband. She texted me the other day asking for more suggestions because he now wears them exclusively, but is wearing them out because he only bought a few pair.

So guess who made my suggestions list.... Aussiebum. I did order them online. I actually have some in the mail on their way to me. Again, not all of them are "in your face". I wear them to the pool in my condo community and when I go to the beach to run, sunbathe, or sometimes when I surf. When meeting our neighbors, my wife was asked "which one is your husband"? She said "the one in the speedos". And they said "oh he can wear whatever he wants."

So I don't think its fair to categorize a brand the way some of you have. The guys in the video were trying for attention, and you guys bought right into it.

OK Jace mate chuck on your best and brightest pink and green ACs, go to a public swimming pool and tell me how you go.
Take some pics of YOU doing it and post them on the forum too. Prove me wrong, my challenge to you.
While you're at it, get some of your stripping buddies and AC model buddies and members of the water polo team you coach to help?
Put your money where your mouth is man, all you've done on this thread is bicker and snipe at other people instead of intelligently adding to the conversation, such a brave lil keyboard warrior!

@speedoboi, yeah man AB do have some masculine speedos, in my opinion those are their "classic" cuts, the classic 2.5 inch and 1.5 inch and Loose. If you jump on the AB website now, look at the first five swimsuits they offer. NOT masculine in any way shape or form, sorry... I was in Sydney recently and there were actually big advertising posters for AB on the back of buses and around the city, but they didn't advertise those first five suits, they only showed the pictures of lifeguards in classic cuts, my guess is so they wouldn't alienate the straight people who might just might buy their products.

@SnowBrief and Texas, you guys are both right, I agree with your comments : ) AC briefs are for the exhibitionist. Texas I feel your pain about the judgement you feel you are under for just wanting to wear a swimsuit, this video is perpetuating the idea that speedos are somehow perverse or weird. You make a good point that the video would be better if they'd just worn normal sportswear speedos.

@_Su_ man I hear what you're saying, but it's a personal taste thing when it comes to this. I am not wrong in saying that AC (or Aussiebum for that matter) is marketed primarily at gay men, one look at the website says that loudly and proudly, but hey if straight people like it too, who cares?
My point is that this kind of swimwear is of a cut and style and colour scheme that would be unseemly almost anywhere public, unless in the company of a LOT of other people wearing it too, hence my comments about the gay parties.
No offence man but if you put on the average AC speedo and went to the beach in the states, I daresay someone would ask you to cover up... hell if I was a parent and you wore that around my kids, I'd confront you.
I love speedos, that's why I'm on this forum, so an analogy I have come up with to help explain my position is this: choosing the appropriate kind of speedo for an occasion is a bit like deciding what to wear to a dinner party; do I wear a suit, do I wear smart casual, or do I wear a crazy red suit and tie (and stand out get laughed at)?
Think of a normal black 5cm speedo endurance brief as the suit, think of the Aussiebum Classic as the smart casual, aaaaaand then Andrew Christian is the crazy red attention drawing suit.
On the flipside, if you went to a gay Circuit party at the beach, you'd be looked at funny for wearing a classic black endurance brief (imagine the comments: "did your mum pick your speedo honey?")
Does this make my stance a little clearer? I'm not trying to be confrontational, just thoughtful. If AC made a classic style speedo, I'd wear it, but they don't offer what I like/want.
But all things said man if your wife likes them, then whatever you do in the privacy of your own home I am sure is both sexy and fun : ) good on her for being open minded about mens' intimate apparel
