Speedo argument

I was talking with this guy online and we came to the subject of swimwear. Well I told him I wear speedos... his response was that he found them hilarious outside of sexual situations. He was telling me how he didn't want his dick hanging out. I was like what in the world? So I asked him why he didn't find women in bikinis funny and he said because thats hot. He is a bi if you were wondering. He also said that he's just not gay enough to wear speedos, but didn't mind them for sport but at the beach he said he would never be caught dead in one. He has a hot body too... this goes to show you the perception some people have toward speedos. I even told him that what most European men wear them and he didn't believe me. Some people are just so isolated and close minded. I don't hate a lot of things in this world because I know its a strong word... but the thing I hate the most is ignorant people.

WOW! Some things rarely leave me speechless ... but this is one! Is ' degree of gayness' measured by the amount of skin shown by the suit??? If so, many men would be wearing pants to the beach. Tightness of the suit? Big baggy pants!

I know right its like some guys think the more skin you show the more gay you must be. I'm glad I live somewhere where I can wear my speedos without being ridiculed by jerks like this guy. Your clothing doesn't determine your sexuality.

My motivation for wearing a Speedo at the beach isn't for showing off or getting picked up ... it's for the tan lines! Getting some color on most of my body and being lily white from the bellybutton to the knees just doesn't work for me.

Gotta admit I loved seeing myself in the mirror with an awesome speedo tan. Totally agree. For me though, the appeal and excitement of wearing a speedo is maximizing the amount of direct skin exposure to the sky but more importantly, the water. Especially under the water. Compared to the drag of long trunks and boardshorts, that first time you immerse your speedo clad body in the waves and feel the sensation of your bare legs and thighs slicing through the liquid just blows your mind. And walking out of the surf and back onto the beach in your speedo feels pretty damn great too. Such a pleasurable feeling of joy and freedom and liberation! Sensual! Not sexual. At least until some great max skin on skin contact happens with a girl in a bikini, and any straight or even bi dude that would not prefer getting it on with a bikini clad girl while wearing only a speedo instead of long trunks is out of his fucking mind. Words fail me in trying to describe how much I love speedos, but "gay" isn't even in the thesaurus!

I find myself agreeing with diveguy more often then not. The feel of the water gliding over the body, across the bare skin, is so much more comfortable/desirable then having fabric flapping against the body, my body. I much more enjoy wearing a brief in & out of the water and consider them as practical as sexual. To have the one I'm with (sex or not) wearing as little as I, is a fond way to mate!

None of my friends have ever considered my speedo wearing as "gay". From how the people I surround myself with think, we look upon the designer board short wearers concerned with fashion and with deep tans, appear much more "gay" looking then someone in a speedo. That's because, my out, gay male friends are the best dressers (oddly, my lesbian friends have no sense of fashion lol) and only wear the latest swim wear from Macy's.

Frank, why were conversing with this individual, doesn't sound as you too have much in common?

I agree- showing skin isn't "gay." Plus, I wear speedos because they're way more comfortable than board shorts which are just baggy and in the way, whether you're swimming laps or hanging out on the beach. I guess some people are stuck on stereotypes.

It's amazing that seeing or showing the Male Thigh can strike such terror or shame in people. The only real difference between a speedo and trunks/boardies is that the thighs are exposed. Of course they're form fitting but trunks and some shorts can be too, so I think it boils down to thighs. Wonder why that is.

speedo gay theory is such a fun fact ...
I just enjoy telling people that if it was true - than more than half of European man should be gay. I wonder if some people really would believe such thing :)

...telling many spanish men they are "gay" for wearing xyz, is liable to get you either laughed at...or your teeth punched in...(fiery latino tempers...)
I find it amusing that so many North American men shudder at the concept of holding their wife's handbag, yet many european men have no issue with it as they are doing the "gentlemanly thing"

Sexual insecurity seems to be a facet of many people's lives....

Wearing speedo doesn't make you gay. I am married with a child on the way......... do people think I'm gay walking down the beach with my wife. I doubt it. That or I just confuse the hell out of them. Lol
