Aussiebum Classic Review

OK, this is a negative review about everyone's favourite speedos. I am writing this out of concern for you guys coz I don't want to see you waste your money on a shit product.
Although I was thrilled when AB released new Classics before Christmas, I've had sizing problems with them, and the simple fact is, the new Classic range are crap. Here's why:
1. The sizing: I'm a 34 inch waist, I bought the large, which didn't fit because they've obviously changed manufacturer, so was forced to buy them again in medium. Which still doesn't fit.
2. The range: 5 colours. Pointless.
3. The fabric: now this is where it gets WORSE. I bought the Forest Green classics in Medium size and wore them to the beach yesterday. The moment they got wet, they sagged like shit from the crotch and made me look and feel like I was wearing a wet nappy. It was not even remotely attractive. I felt like an old man wearing incontinence pants. They SAG THAT BADLY IT'S ACTUALLY DISGUSTING.
4. The elastic: Now this is possibly the worst thing that could happen. Some of you might think this would be 'hot' but I guarantee you I nearly died from embarrassment. Here I am in the water, standing side on throwing a ball to my mate, a wave hits me at hip height and BRUSHES THE USELESS FUCKING THINGS ASIDE. My penis flopped out and was visible to anyone who cared to look. I had to squat in the water, grab my junk, tuck it back in, and then tighten the drawcord again. The elastic on the legs is shithouse.
Even for a slight exhibitionist like me this was the most embarrassing thing I could imagine.
I'm writing them a complaint email as soon as I can.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT PURCHASING THESE, THEY ARE FUCKING USELESS.

I will add my two cents.

Their customer service is pretty horrible. I live in the States and spent over $500 USD during their December sale, two separate orders.
In my first shipment, it was supposed to be 14 items. They sent 13. So one thing was left out entirely. And I had ordered two identical suits, but one was plain and one was their wonderjock. Well, they sent me TWO of the plain version of the suit (which obviously is also cheaper than the wonderjock version.)
I e-mailed them on December 23rd when I noticed this. No response until I e-mailed them again after the new year. I figured with two holidays and two weekends, I wouldn't push it. Finally they responded. I let them know what I wanted, either refund the money or send me the missing products (although I really didn't want ANOTHER of that suit, even if it was the wonderjock, I digress.) Anyway, I never heard from them AGAIN. Finally just last week I checked my credit card statement and there was no refund. So I sent an e-mail. They responded saying they refunded me for the suit they forgot to include. Nothing was mentioned about the fact that they also owe me money for the other suit they didn't actually send. I wrote back. I still haven't heard from them...
Ridiculous.
Good luck to all you shoppers. Maybe you need to live in Australia and buy them from stores. I actually like the suits and the products, but then again, I've not given them the surf test yet...

I will admit that I find their "customer service" somewhat slow. I have been able to find the emails of the people incharge of these things. Here are some that might help

Sean Ashby (oversees operation and very helpful) sean@aussiebum.com
Elzbieta Paczesniak (in charge of retail and shipping) elzbieta@aussiebum.com
Patricia Pilz (in charge of product management) Patricia@aussiebum.com

All of these are away faster then their customer service. I hope they help you.

ricardo871, wish you had printed your review a couple days earlier, when I placed my order to AussieBum.

Like Duck, I placed an order, mine for only six items, which I only received four items. One of the missing items was a Classic brief suit of theirs, along with another suit. This Classic, the Gold colored one, was also bought by a couple of this Forum's members and wonder if any of them have had any of your problems with it sagging? That would be a serious problem of a fellow member here, none of us would like that.

So I sent off a message this last Monday to the AussieBum customer line mentioning that I did not get my suits. Amazingly, I got a reply today stating that they made an error and have sent off the two missing suits. I hope this is a change in their customer service policies. As of now, if my suits arrive within a week, I guess I will be forced to claim, I am a satisfied customer. Wish all others the best.

Thank you Rockman for your help. Those e-mails ARE going to be rather useful.
I got an e-mail from Sean's assistant, Reuben Fitch today, but of course the e-mail address used was the old standard orders@aussiebum.com Ridiculous.
Even though they neglected to send me one item I ordered, AND sent a different version of a second item, the tone in their response to me made it sound like MY fault. (Of course I was rather pissed when reading it, so maybe I'm reading more into it.)

G’day Ryan,
Thank you for your reply,
I’m sorry to hear we sent you the wrong items.
If you could post the wrongly packed items back I will process a refund for them and the postage costs.
Hope you can comprehend this is something we do not normally do however will make an exception in this case.
Regards,
FROM THE DESK OF
REUBEN FINCH PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO SEAN ASHBY

"Hope you can comprehend?" What the fuck? I'm not an idiot. But it's not MY fault you sent the wrong item. Never once has anyone apologized. "I'm sorry to hear..." is not an "I'm sorry for the trouble" or "I'm sorry that we made a mistake."

Let me just state that my original order was placed on December 12th. Now with the refund I got from the one suit they never sent, I know this is silly of me, but they owe me 10 cents because the exchange rate has changed since then and now I'm just annoyed.

I already sent off a response, but maybe I should send it again to all three of the people whose e-mails you've listed below.
Thanks again!

Duck, that has to be one of the worst customer service replies ever written! It sounds like he got his customer relations training while employed at a cell phone company!

"Thank you for your reply,".... you didn't reply, he was replying. You sent the original message, this tone indicates to me they first initiated the correction so therefore, you, Duck, need to make the correction. If this was Macy's, Swim Outlet, Target (yes, even with their current problems), etc., any of these companies would have supplied you with a return address label with prepaid return so the customer didn't have to make that expense.

Oddly, I got what I would call a cordial reply (even though there are some grammar issues, which could be due to my national lingo vs. Australia grammar speak, and I am a grammar geek):

G'day
Thanks for your email.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we would like to apologise for this mistake, It looks like your order has been short packed.
Just a quick note to advise that your missing item/s has been sent and will be arriving soon to:
Thank you for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Warm regards,
Reuben | aussieBum

When I get these, and I am going to remain faithful that I do get them, I will give a review (from being wet in the shower due to the extreme cold outside weather we are experiencing).

Yeah, you could go ahead and send them al messages, but Patricia I would say is the fastest and most helpful. She sound like a very nice person from all of the emails I gotten through her. Sean though, will normally just forward the messages to the people (Patricia) in charge of whatever your problem it. That at least has been my experience.

Gday Snowie

I hope your gold suit arrived (or is nearby). Just to give you some comfort, I haven't had any problems with mine, so hopefully you'll have the same experience.

The only thing I've noticed is that the Classic suits now seem to be a bit tighter in the crotch compared with previous years, so there's not as much freedom for your package (and there's nothing I enjoy more than a free package). Everything else is good though.

Brooklynduck, that's a awful experience for you, compounded by the fact your Aussiebum suits have to travel all the way from Australia, so everything's delayed. Hope it all resolves for you and you get a chance to model them soon!

Rockman... thank you so much! I sent e-mails to those three people, and yes, Patricia responded immediately. I had forwarded the entire e-mail chain up to that point with a note about what I had experienced and she went ABOVE AND BEYOND!
I do not have to mail anything back. Also, they are mailing me not only the one suit that they neglected to send, but two additional suits that I had shown interest in during one of the exchanges. So I'm getting 3 suits. (Granted, I was short two, so it's not that generous.) But she also formally apologized, said she would talk with her staff about how to resolve these issue in the future and is sending me a voucher for a future purchase. Plus I've already got a FedEx tracking number for the package that she sent TODAY!
Unfortunately it had to get to the point where it had to land on her desk, and thank you for that e-mail address, but hopefully because of this ordeal their customer service in general will improve.

And Budgy, you know I'll gladly model whatever comes my way.
Thank you guys! I'm so SO glad that I wrote about my experience on here and that I have friends across the globe to help with these issues!
You're all amazing sexy beautiful gents and I'm so grateful.

Hugs from Brooklyn. Dirty, nasty, skin on skin hugs, maybe with tongue. Ha!
Ryan

she did the same thing to me. I had a few questions to ask her, and I guess they were good questions, and she gave a $20 voucher. I didn't want to tell you about that and get your hopes up, and then it not happen.
Glad to here that they fixed it.

Haha boy did I open a can of worms lol
I only meant their new products are crap, not the service but there you go
I think AussieBum has gone a bit up it's own ass lately, they've stopped making the good products that made them great. Even their underwear range is ridiculous more than masculine in my opinion, don't get me started on where the speedos went.

The Classic 2.5"s that I got recently have been fine as have all of the products I've bought from them. Makes me wonder if you got something from a bad batch. Delivery for me in Aus has always been fast but I've not had a problem in about 9 orders so havent had to deal with the customer issues side of things.
