"In an unexpected display of bathing suit openness, 65 percent of those surveyed said they approve of Speedos. Speedo approval was highest in France, with 91 percent of beachgoers accepting the much-maligned Speedo."

why are surveys that find approval so important to get validation for guys to wear a swimsuit?

Do you think we would give up wearing our favorite swim suits if that survey turned up negative results?
It's a matter of how the general trend is going. There are those of us who would like to see more guys wearing briefs to the beach or pool instead of idiotic baggy boardies.

While I wouldn't let it stop me from wearing my speedo, I like to know opinions. It helps put my mind at ease, reinforcing that no one cares much about what suit you are wearing.

It was nice to see that the US was split almost 50/50. That maybe there's not as much of a stigma as we think. I think most of it is in our own heads.

Yeah, I agree with Eaite, Zaps, and grswimmer, we just must go to beach and rock speedos with confidence!!
