So we're all open on here about our mutual love of the speedo, but how many people on here have raised it with a partner/date/friend?

I'm a new member on here and have been looking through discussions and threads (and photos of course!) - great to see so many people like me who just love speedos - not sure what it is about them, just love the look and feel on myself and others. The forum is great because we all know we like them, but what's people's experiences in broaching it in person?

I started swimming with a friend last summer, we would both go in shorts but I would wear my speedos underneath. I remember telling him a few times in a jokey manner that I was going to bring speedos and would always try and add "Honestly, I don't see nothing wrong with them" into the conversation.

Then it came to a conversation in a jacuzzi about how your dick tends to wander in shorts when in a jacuzzi and I told him I don't get that problem because I wear speedos underneath my shorts that keeps it under control. He didn't really comment.

Then I remember one day I decided to take the plunge and wear just speedos to the pool. I told him in the car on the way I was going to wear my 'budgie smugglers' for this session and he laughed. I remember feeling quite anxious and excited as I was getting changed in the locker room. Then, as I was putting my bag in my locker, kitted out in just my speedo, he walked out and went "Urmmm...I don't really know where to look." I laughed and we had a bit of a joke around but I've worn them ever since and we go swimming three times a week together.

I still haven't managed to get him to wear a pair yet, but I think I've changed his perception on how speedos are seen and whenever the topic is brought up amongst friends on a night our or whatever he mentions how much my swimming has improved since I've worn them, so im glad he see's the benefits. I guess the next task is to get him to wear them, he's lost so much weight since we started swimming that I think he'd look great in them - but each to their own.

Ha ha, my friend walked into the pool last week after I finished and made a comment about me: "speedo man." I corrected him though, "its a Turbo suit." I think it went over his head.

I wear them often enough it feels like a piece of athletic gear. The more you wear them, the more confident and relaxed you get.

The eight lane pool I swam at had at most four guys swimming, but on most days, it was just two of us. We never talked about speedos, and the first day I wore mine, I was nervous as hell. Going into the pool area, I looked over at the lifeguards, who, if not asleep (this was 6:30 in the morning), were reading a book. He went to his lane, usually 2, and me in lane 6. He jumped in, and I stripped my shorts off onto the diving platform, and quickly jumped in.

I can't even explain the awesome feeling I had at that moment, and vowed never to wear shorts into the pool again to swim! I have been hooked on speedos since, feeling the water just wash over my body, is something that I love.

As to enjoy it with another speedo lover, I am still dreaming of that date, guy or girl.

Thanks for that guys. I've worn mine at hotel pools/jacuzzis but never with anyone I know. Also sunbathed (love feeling of hot sun on me when wearing my suit) in them on my lonesome.
I've tried to bring it up with mates before but it always ended being laughed off so never tried again.. Same with partners - would love to be with a guy who understood it (or shared it!) never experienced speedos in the bedroom..always dreamt of it!

LOL I have a sneaking suspicion that a huge majority of the guys on this board are totally closeted when it comes to their speedos. To many questions about what would parents say, friends say, friendly beaches etc and all the self pics taken in bathroom mirrors with iphones. I have seen too often the guys coming to the beach or pool and sitting there for a long time before they have the nerve to take off their cover up shorts and be seen in their speedo. They seem to have to be sure there are other guys in speedos before they show theirs. (here's a thought, how often have guys gone to the beach and not had the nerve to take off their shorts when there were another bunch of guys with the same insecurities so no one took their shorts) Then when they go to the bar, restroom, or move away from their lounger the pull on the shorts and cover up. I have even seen guys that pull on their shorts when they go for a swim!
If you have a friend that you swim with, why not pull off the shorts and expose those speedos -- if there is a comment, you just remind them the purpose of the day is swimming and speedos are serious swimmers. If they still have an issue -- find new friend that isn't so narrow minded and perhaps a homophobic. (remember - Speedos=Gay in most minds) Its a swim suit and you are going swimming, there should be no discussion needed.

I am fairly open about wearing speedos. I wear them at the pool for laps all the time and at the beach up here in the northeastern part of the US. I have worn them on vacations with friends. I have to say my immediate family would give me a little shit the first time but would have no problem with it. They know I do triathlons and swim to workout.

I also have brought it up with a now former boyfriend. He was not into it as much but wore them a few times for sex and at the beach when on a far away vacation. I never forced the issue but did buy him a pair of speedos before a trip once. He had huge self esteem issues and was visibly uncomfortable wearing them (despite my assurances that he looked great in them). He was more of a jockstrap guy.

Get comfortable on your own in them and start wearing them more and more in public. Pretty soon you and the people around you will get used to it.

I've approached the issue with one boyfriend and he was extremely supportive and was more than eager to wear them for laps at the gym, beach and occasionally for more 'adult adventures'.

I always wore speedos. I remember one summer I even wore a speedo thong - light blue. I was 7 years ago. My wife is totally fine with it. I can say she enjoys speedos a lot. So, that's enough for me. I don't care what other people think - it is my choice not theirs. I don't think I shall be wasting my life with others people opinion.
Yep, just think about it:
* how much time have you wasted on what other people think or shall I do this and this - i.e. wear speedos.
Remember it is your life - and you live it once.
Would it feel ok - one day - as a grandad at the age of 70 - thinking....
"Why did I care so much... I should have worn my speedos..."

Would the others turn back the time - so, you would enjoy the things you love doing?
Just don't waste your time - wear and do whatever gives you happiness - and I mean not just wearing speedos.
(One very important note here: as long as it is legal in your country.)

I wore a speedo in front of my straight friend one day. We were really close buddies but completely non sexual, but we had many discussions about our dicks and underwear, which were casual but later on I'd remember what he said about preferring briefs and how comfortable his penis was in various styles. ;) I'd asked him about speedo before and he said he wore them when he was young, but now he's not interested.
He came to visit me and my parents over a christmas holiday, we had both traveled from interstate. My parents live near the beach. When we went to the beach we both wore boardshorts (tho I had a speedo on under mine). We were home alone relaxing one day, him watching TV and me using the computer and I decided to go for a swim in my parents pool. I put on my tight royal blue speedo I'd bought from ebay and fluffed my penis a bit and pointed it straight up in the pouch. I revealed myself to him when announcing i was going to swim and sunbake, and inviting him to join me. He tried not to stare at my crotch but I saw him doing it. I went swimming and lay in the sun, and eventually he came out to join me. I offered him a speedo to sunbake but he declined, saying he'll just wear his boardshorts. After swimming he lay down in the sun and commented that he would get a strange tan line, so maybe he'll take his shorts off, if thats okay. He didnt borrow a speedo but he did wear his black bonds briefs with me in the sun. It's a shame he couldn't feel how sexy a speedo is, even in a non sexual situation.
