Hello fellow memebers and visitors,

This is an article from squidoo.com that i found interesting. So I decided to post it.

Yes you should wear a speedo!

Hey dude speedos are cool, don't knock it
Here's why I love it
and you why you do too.
Speedos are cool admit it. I don't mean speedo brand swim shorts, I mean little nut huggers.
When a hot guy wears them they look great.

When an old guy wears one, like at the Y to swim laps, it reminds me of the 70's. Which is actually probably when he purchased them.

When an average guy wears one it sells, what I mean is, it lets everyone know that even though he's average, He's got a little something up his sleeve, or a big something down his... you get the idea.

Even if you don't have a big thing down your you know where this should not exclude you from the ranks of faithful speedo wearers. Far from it. Speedos show off your legs or your cute butt or whatever. Do you have an awesome scar on your leg from a shark attack, climbimg accident or sweet bike trick gone awry... even better i say. Don't be discouraged, let it all hang out let's see what ya got.

Truth is it's a cultural thing. In Brazil if you wear shorts you are obviously hiding something. Which in fact you would be.

Well there's my testimonial,and that''s coming from a 28 year old 36" 26" 34" ! and yes, I.'m a chick

I once did an informal survery of about 70 women (online) regarding speedos.

Probably about 10-15 in favour, and 50+ said no.

I reckon, from a woman's POV, speedos may be a "guilty pleasure". E.g. I think some women like dudes in speedos but can't admit it to men or other women, because in the heterosexual youth culture at the moment speedos are uncool.

Basically, teens decide what's cool for everyone.

As an 18 year old (and therefore still a part of teenagerdom) I can say that I think any dude daring enough to wear a speedo is cool. Board shorts cover everything up, but are considered more 'macho' for some reason, even though they're made so you can hide your stuff in them! How is it more 'manly' to cover everything up instead of leaving it all out there for the world to see? My ruling: Speedos = Awesome; Boardies/Swim trunks = whimpy.

I couldn't agree with you more, st_castro. I'll take speedos over boardies any day of week.

Still, boardies are a massive trend. No idea when it started? Surf culture?

Also, speedos do present a little problem as they're not flattering on guys who don't take care of themselves/flabby etc. I think, since we're getting fatter on average in western nations, we need boardies to hide how fat/unfit we are!!

I suspect men from eariler eras e.g. 70s and earlier, were on average better-looking than current men. At least in rich, western countries.

Duncan--I think you're right. When you read the stats americans are getting fatter. But also today, there are a lot of guys tho who spend a lot of time at the gym and have awesome bodies. They can wear any speedo they want. but the pics of guys at pools in the 70s (like the ones from Florida posted here) show all sorts of guys in speedos. Most dont have hi-def six or eight packs but they're real lean and cool. My friends are in their twenties and dont do laps. heck, they dont even swim. I went to a pool party with people from my store and was the only one who went in the pool. They were shocked that I could swim and looked okay in my suit. I look kind of wimpy in street clothes

Cheers, Justin. You DO look great in your speedos. We need more lads like you. 8)

I don't think you'd look wimpy in your street clothes. Not at all. Probably hot and stylish. :P

Justin you look really good. I can't stand board shorts. Girls def like speedos.

If you have not seen this already, there is a good video on YouTube discussing speedos on Sunrise with hot models too

Although being fit is attractive, I don't think it's so important for guys to be a 100% adonis in their speedos. When a bloke wears speedos, it says something sexy about his confidence - regardless of whether he's an Aussiebum model or an average dude at the pool or beach.

Just walking to my local pool makes me hard, thinking about sharing a lane with a whole mix of men in smugglers. Hmmmm - Do you reckon I obsess too much about speedos??!
