I was at my local swimming pool yesterday, Wasn't a swimming day for me so opted just for my shorts (speedo underneath though

)
I sat in the sauna minding my own business when a guy (slightly over weight in his 60s) came in with a speedo and just sits minding his own business. After he left the sauna a guy said "Who actually thinks it's alright to wear a speedo? Do you just hit a certain age to wear one?" He got a few laughes Then he went on to say "I even seen a skinny young guy wearing one the other day, It will hardly make him swim faster" Clearly doesn't know much about streamline
I nearly felt like saying just mind your own business and let the guy wear what he wants, Then wip my shorts off
Anybody else had any problems towards them or anybody they know? I feel I might feel nervous wearing my speedo at the pool again

I’ve been wearing speedos to swim laps since about 2016. Then to the steam room afterwards, with no issues at all. Been swimming laps exclusively in a thong (Desmitt/OrcoJuco) since pre Covid at 3 different pools (2 indoor and 1 outdoor) and can honestly say I’ve had absolutely zero issues… And this is in the US.

Honestly, I think this is usually how it goes down. None of us encounter ridicule right to our faces, but I imagine others regularly ridicule/make fun of speedos out of ear shot or after we've gone from an area.

It does happen, unfortunately. Last year, I was at the Lido when a bunch of ignorant teans started berating me: "Hey, guy in the Speedo... why are you wearing a Speedo... I can see your cord."
TBH, I don't even know what that last insult? meant...
It is a devisive garment, still, unfortunately. But if you wear it with confidence, who cares?!

Had the odd occasion when you can hear groups of lads laughing saying to each other im wearing knickers or ball crushers and someone saying to me once they would destroy my fertility which raised a few smirks in the sauna and had it with 4 Loud Girls where they burst into laughter when I entered the Sauna wearing Navy Speedos. But majority of reactions from girls are positive(some feel a bit awkward but thats the minority) and the feeling of comfort and arousal wearing them is on another level and wearing them infront of hot girls and flirting like crazy is such a turn on

I'm actually rather surprised that members have been laughed at in public swimming pools for wearing speedos. I can understand the banter among lads about fertility etc, but I've never worn anything other than speedos and never had any adverse comments. I am quite a serious swimmer, so everyone can see that I'm there to put in a serious number of laps, but I invariably go into the sauna afterwards and nobody takes much notice. Sometimes there are some rather 'hot' girls and guys in there that I hope might take some notice ... but that's another story.

I am a very hairy manly older guy, with thick bike-rider thighs. I have confidently worn speedos, thongs, g-strings, women's bikini bottoms, all my life and never had anyone laugh. I mostly seem to be "invisible" as I roam the Beach.

I make it point to treat ignorant people with all the benign neglect they deserve. I'm comfortable wearing Speedos. People who are envious or don't feel comfortable in their bodies usually revert to laughing at people who are. That's their problem. Do what's right for you and don't care what other people do or say.
