London- Where to swim laps when I am in town?

Post by Oceanrunner79 » Fri Sep 13, 2019 12:09 pm

I will be in London October 4-7 and want to swim some laps when in town.
Where are some good pools to do laps at? Can anyone go to the Olympic swimming center and swim laps?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I will be staying near Kings Cross Station.

St Pancras pool is right near kings cross station. It’s good for lap swimming.

A great pool is Oasis near Covent Garden. An indoor and outdoor lap swimming pool - with a large gay, speedo wearing clientele.

Also Ironmongers row baths are good too for lap swimming.

Yes, Oceanrunner79, you can swim laps in the 50m Olympic pool: see https://www.londonaquaticscentre.org/swimming#!/

Ironmonger Row (30m) and St Pancras (25m) are fine although I find water quality far better at Ironmonger (a 5 minute bus ride away). I regularly do laps at Ironmonger in skimpy stuff without any issues: https://www.better.org.uk/leisure-centr ... -row-baths

Have fun and pack those Speedos!

As a London swimming I agree with all of the above!

Might even see you about the pool side, as I might have seen you bulge runner, and we've just never known the link,

I do think this when I'm out and about at a London pool, how many of the other speedo wearers are on this forum!

Yeah, the Oasis Centre at Covent Garden is beautiful. I swam there a couple of times when I was in London last July. As well, I dropped in for a couple of water polo practices with the gay water polo team in London.

Have any other speedo forum members been there, or go there regularly?

Wow. Ironmonger's pool is unreal. We have nothing like that open to the public in the city where I live in SoFL. Colleges and universities would be lucky to have something that good. You actually need an indoor pool in South Florida to keep the water from getting too warm in the summer. Some outdoor pools have chilling units to keep the temperature down, but it's very expensive. Otherwise, baking in the sun, the pool will get to 90F/32C or more.

And of course, the London Olympic Pool is world class. I'm glad they've kept it open.

OceanRunner,

I was over in London last September and swam at the Brockwell Lido as I was house sitting for some friends out in Hern HIll.

Wasn't a gay vibe but like most Aussie pools where the majority of guys were wearing speedos.

Have a good trip and be sure to tell us how you go.
