Speedo swimming and tanning

Post by BJE » Mon Jun 05, 2017 11:54 pm

I committed a couple months back to only wear speedos at the athletic club where I swim and soak in the hot tub. So far I have stuck to my commitment. Finally the outdoor pool has opened for the summer and Saturday and today after lap swimming and soaking in the outdoor hot tub I laid on a deck chair and tanned. Being still fairly cool there weren't many at the pool, but I'm accustomizing myself to laying out in front of others in a speedo rather than just being in the water and walking to and from the locker room. So far I'm feeling quite comfortable and I think by the time it gets crowded I'll be used to lounging in a speedo and won't think anything of it.

I've been wearing speedos for lap swimming since I was a teenager but I haven't done much hanging out beside the pool in one. It's time I get over my self consciousness.

Well done BJE, you have more confidence than I do. I couldn't do that. First I am that pale I would blind people with the sun reflecting from me and 2nd I need to loose about another 48lbs. Who knows one day! But congrats on taking a huge step.

And you've certainly got the body for hanging out but the pool in just a speedo...

Today I actually rolled the waistband down and rolled the leg openings up to increase sun exposure while laying beside the pool. There weren't a lot of people there though. I tanned after swimming a mile so I guess I deserved the relaxation.

I don't swim and hardly ever get in the water. I just like to lay out by the pool.

Well, today was over ninety degrees so my wife and I went to our health club pool to cool down. It was crowded but I decided before hand that I was going to wear a speedo regardless of how many people were there. It was the first time in a long time that I've worn one at a pool crowded with families. No one seemed to pay much attention. Normally I feel like everyone is looking at me and that any laughing I hear is because of me. I think however that it is mostly my imagination. Having worn a speedo around more people lately has helped me overcome those feelings. While I'm sure people look at me, I hope it is an admiring way. I think it also helps to be wearing my sun glasses so no one can make eye contact, kind of like hiding behind my glasses, and being with my wife helps because I'm focusing on her rather than on what people may be thinking of me.

When I got home I took the swim shorts and jammers out of my gym bag so that my only choice will be speedos.

With your build and swimming activity, I'm sure people consider your speedos sports related, at least that's been my experience. In their minds, you're wearing them for a good functional reason, which in fact you are--not to be a sex object. When I come out of the surf here wearing a speedo and carrying my mask and flippers, people (including young women) smile in a friendly way. (or they're thinking, "the old guy can still hack it in the water") And I'm stoked from being in the water, so I smile back.

Jace, you have the hardest job in the world (no pun intended). Spending all day at work in a speedo, really tough. You have my sympathy. Lol. Jammy B*****d. Lol.

Well done! I think in general most people don't care, it's just that speedo wearers like ourselves focus on it because it's not the norm. If you saw somebody wearing something unique, would you really care? Be proud and wear what YOU want.

Today marks eleven weeks since I last wore a swimming suit other than a speedo. That makes about 45-55 consecutive times that I've worn them. I've only used the looks and hot tub at my athletic club so far but I've worn them now on many occasions during family swim time and tanning at the side of the pool. I've observed those around me and I've decided that they really don't pay much attention to me. I used to feel like everyone was looking and laughing at me but such is not the case. I suppose people notice and think something but they don't stare or comment. I think I'm ready to wear one at any pool. I can't wait to wear one laying by the pool while on vacation in a few weeks. I'm definitely going to get some dark speedo tan lines. However, the other day I was walking through the locker room in my Sporti Euro brief with goggle on my forehead when an older man asked me what my goal is at the athletic club. I was a bit confused. Then he said, you have a perfect body already so what are you trying to accomplish at the club. I replied that I'm just trying to stay fit. Then he replied, just maintaining equilibrium. I said yes.

Then yesterday I commented to my wife that guys rarely compliment each other on how they look. I think it's likely due to the fear of seeming gay. However, after my Taekwondo class yesterday evening I walked into the locker room and a younger guy started to talk to me about martial arts. As we were talking I casually took off my belt and then when I took off the top of my uniform he literally freaked out over my physique. It was a bit embarrassing. He said "I can't believe you man, your f****ing shredded." Then he went on and on for several minutes. I think he over reacted but it shows that even though most men won't comment, they likely notice a decent physique. It makes me wonder how many guys who see me in a speedo wish they had the guts to wear one and the physique to look good in one.

Many, I'm sure. I was invited to a barbecue/pool party a few weeks ago. (I wore some Asian speedo cut jammers.) I am by no means as fit as you are. Still, I'm lean, and people were surprised when I told them my age. There were a lot of people in their mid-twenties, and I was leaner than most. That said, I soberly remind myself that people my age (mid-sixties) can drop dead from some hidden ailment at any moment no matter how they appear. You end up being a handsome corpse for viewing hours.
