Say no to Speedos?

Re: Say no to Speedos?
Just say no to the naysayers.
Lots of inconsistencies in this article, by the way. First they say no to extra long shorts, and recommend styles that go down to mid thigh, which are two good pieces of advice. But then the guy on the right is pictured in shorts that drop down past the thighs and tickle the tops of his knees.
About these mid thigh shorts they're suggesting they say: "...these shorts can be thrown over bathers at the beach...", but then they recommend against speedos. Let's hope they at least would agree to wearing square cuts, because anything more would probably drop down past the leg openings of their mid thigh shorts.
I recommend that men all say "fuck you" to the fashion police and wear speedos underneath their mid thigh shorts, before peeling off those shorts when you hit the beach.

Have you caught any reruns of "Magnum P.I." on dish/cable? (For those outside the U.S., it's a comedy/action TV series from the eighties set in Hawaii.) Selleck wore shorts that were well above mid thigh, though AFAIK, he never wore a speedo. His bathing suits were the length of today's shorter square-cuts (no jammers back then!!). He wasn't afraid to show off his butt in tight jeans either. I've seen a few speedos worn by background extras in the beach scenes. And they often showed hot babes in bikinis that barely covered anything; you didn't see that on broadcast much then. Anyway, I saw the series when I was young and thought it and he were cool. Today, he always seems grumpy in the shows he does.

Good point. As men, we should be happy and joyful in our bodies.bobop wrote:I think that first picture looks amazing in this article actually! (the guy doing the handstand) Someone loving life!!

Yes! It was one of my favorite shows when it first aired (yes I am that old) and I've enjoyed seeing it in reruns since. People today bag on those short shorts (including how short the shorts were that NBA basketball players of that era all wore) but I still think they're a lot more fun and preferable to the knee length shorts of today. I wore shorts that short back in those days. I was really sad to see them go out of fashion. I would not wear them that short today, though, because for whatever reason, I think it's worse to wear shorty shorts in everyday situations in an era where nobody else is wearing them than it is to wear a speedo on the beach. If the super short shorts came back into fashion and became popular, I would go back to them in a heartbeat.Thom wrote:Have you caught any reruns of "Magnum P.I." on dish/cable? Magnum's swim trunks were awesome. Short as square cuts as you said, but not tight like lycra. Although I still much prefer speedos, I would also love a pair of nylon trunks in that style.

Interesting comments.
Oh, I needed a wet suit for SUP. Got a ROKA tri suit because they have really flexible arms. Super sale. 60 percent off. Really form fitting--heh.... I got it on easily enough, but getting it off took 20 minutes.
I actually just bought something that comes close to that style. Birdwell Beach Britches (being a Californian, you've likely heard of them) had a super sale a couple of months ago, an anniversary sale where you could buy anything on the site for fifteen bucks. All that was left when I logged on was a pair of powder blue nylons with a short inseam, not quite as short as Magnum's, but close. I think they're cool I'll post a pic.diveguy wrote: Magnum's swim trunks were awesome. Short as square cuts as you said, but not tight like lycra.
