Anybody do a polar bear plunge on New Years?
For the first time ever, I did a polar bear plunge on New Years Day. The water was 50 degrees (F), and the air was about 45 (F). There were a few guys in speedos. I hope to do it next near, and if so, I'm planning on a red speedo! The whole event was a great rush!

No way!
Several coastal towns in Scotland have a 'Loony Dook' in the sea on the first. Usually in fancy dress and for charity.

New year's eve, I took the day off to look for sharks teeth. Air temp was mid 70s, water was upper 60s. Took a dip in my speedo just to pee. Didn't get up early enough to make it to the official plunge the next day though. Maybe next year.
What I'd really enjoy is one of those Santa Speedo runs (women included) elsewhere in the country. Anyone do one of those?

I went in for the Boxing Day swim in Sidmouth, Devon, about 25 years ago - black nylon Speedos as I remember. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_XJWN1kEDM It was cold but it was the power of the sea that scared me - the waves just picked you up and threw you around. I was only in about 30 seconds.

Didn't make it for New Year's 2016, but I've done previous years in my Speedo. This year I was too busy doing yard work. Temps were in the 30s F, but sunny. Lots of people participated in two local plunge events, one in a lake and the other in the bay. I doubt many guys were in briefs.

I've done it many times but didn't this year, and I honestly don't even know why... but saw it on TV that evening and as usual, some guys were wearing speedos.
