I can't imagine anything more appropriate at a swimming pool than a swim suit.

I'd politely complain to management. Money talks, and you pay a lot of rent.

Well I want to find a suitable place other than my gym to wear my speedos. I want to go to the beach and just chill and tan but I gotta get up the courage to do that again...

You're about 2 hours from Galveston, drive out and chill on the beach. Or, you could drive about 2.5 hours and hang out in Austin. Hippie Hollow on lake Travis is clothing optional, speedos are common. Also at Barton Springs in Austin Speedos are normal as well.

Hi Tex
In Europe there are no countries where you´re told to leave the pool or beach when wearing a speedo. When you´ll come there for travelling or so you´re welcome to enjoy speedoing!

Thats' right. Here it is the other way around. In some pools they ask you to leave if you're wearing shorts.

This was the suit I was wearing the day I was asked to change. Also on a side note. Does anyone know of any way to treat ingrown hairs? My chest looks horrible now because of shaving it with a razor... Im just tired of my skin looking bad. :|

You should have said "F you…take a look at me in this suit…I look great!!!"
People are idiots. You look great in that suit. There is nothing offensive about it! I could understand if it was a white unlined suit or an N2N type suit that pushes your dick up and out, but that suit??? They're jerks

Texas, your suit is appropriate for any pool. And you look good in it.

I understand and I'm totally with you however, I think people should get over the fact guys have dicks. It shouldn't mater if I'm wearing an N2N or a Speedo suit.

Even though I live in Utah, I have been told about how the bible belt states are. They make Utah look pretty cosmopolitan by comparison. We had an issue in a small town in southern Utah (Kanab) where the town council tried banning speedos at the public pool. It didn't last long. The response was so overwhelming that the ban was lifted so fast it made everyone's head spin. As for me, If someone were to tell me my swim briefs were inappropriate at the pool, my first response would be "try having the women swim laps in boardshorts and see how they like it". If that didn't work my second response would be "kick me out and there will be a lawsuit"!

But you have to keep in mind the ignorance of most folk on the subject of swimming and swimsuits. The term "swimming" to them might be mostly what I call "splash and scream" activities on a summer day at the water hole. The concept of, say, lap swimming for competition training or fitness benefits would be foreign to them, and so might be the proper attire for it.
And then comes the use of speedo style briefs (and likely much briefer) for uses other than swimming, and their imaginations go wild into where they insist nobody's should because it's a sin and...
I don't need to go there.
Just try to understand them but stand your ground, you have rights. If your behavior is questionable or offensive, consider the consequences and choose your battles.

Well worded swimmy. If your behavior is questionable and or your swimsuit is a thong or see though, you probably don't have much of a case. Especially where families congregate. But if you feel your behavior and attire are appropriate, well.... I just can't see letting it go without some sort of fight. Even in Texas. I'm tempted to call the A.C.L.U. and see what they say. The worst thing that could happen is they would laugh at me. No biggie. ........... This is just so strange to me because in all my 49 years I have worn swim briefs in my apartment pool, as well as natatoriums, beaches, even on an Alaskan cruise ship. While I have heard some giggles, I have also received compliments. But I have never been confronted. It makes me wonder if those who would confront you are just in a very small insecure minority. If Texas swimmer were to go to his apartment management, maybe he would find that the person who asked him to leave was just another Barny Fife.

So I guess one of these is no good to you?

Maybe try toga and see what their reaction is? Or if it's not breaching a published rule then just say no and keep swimming.

Seems a bit weird.

Perhaps this is really what they're after. I wonder what the drowning rate was like back then!

Hey Texas_swimmer, that is redicilous anyone would say that.. The suit you're wearing is a standard form fitting swimsuit. Which people wear swimsuits to swim in..!
I also live in Texas (Dallas area), which is somewhat conservative too, however I've never had a response like that. Huntsville is a large "small town" and my guess they're still a lot of people that have the bible belt way of thinking.
Which I don't get the double standard.. I'm sure at that pool there were girls in 2 piece swimsuits.. But all the guys wore shorts below the knees.
I know for myself, if I'm hanging out by the pool, I may have on shorts. However, if I'm laying out for a tan, or swimming, I'm going to wear my speedo.
