I'm going to be in San Diego for a couple of days at the end of April. I understand that a lot of beaches there are speedo friendly. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good beach?

Hey @Bospeedodude you can wear a speedo to any beach here. While boardshorts are the most popular choice among men here if you go to one of the bigger beaches like Mission or La Jolla you might spot a speedo wearer or two mostly travelers from other countries.
But I suggest Blacks Beach in La Jolla its my favorite beach. During the week its practically dead hardly anyone around but if you go on a Saturday or Sunday and the weather is really nice its usually packed with different walks of life. Mostly college students from UCSD. There is a straight side and gay side. The gay side is wear your going to find lots of guys in speedos or guys wearing nothing at all because its a nude beach as well but you don't have to go nude.
You can access the beach two ways the goat trail which leads to the gay side, its on the far end of the dirt parking lot. The goat trail is not for the faint of heart though it is very steep but manageable go slow and wear good hiking shoes. If you want easier way down you can go down the trail to the left of the glide port. This trial is very easy to go down as there are man made steps and older people go down this way so its not at all that bad. But using this trial you will have to walk a little ways before you reach the gay side.
Other things to note is there isn't a bathroom or trash cans on the beach so what you bring you have to pack up.

Frankjath do you ever see any speedo wearers on the "straight" side too, or just the gay side?

That's a good question @diverguy I haven't seen any guys on the stright side in speedos. Mostly on the straight sides it's guys who come with their girlfriends or wife's. Sometimes you will find them nude though. You would think some of the straight guys would want to go for a speedo. I think boardshorts are impractical for swimming anywhere but a a nude beach it's even more silly. I'll go down the straight side and report back if I spot any the next time I'm their.
