Surfing in a speedo?

Have any of you gone surfing in a speedo? I use to go surfing when I was a kid with by childhood friend but that was my boardshorts days. I was thinking of taking lessons but I really don't want to wear boardshorts. I don't think I even own boardshorts lol.

Heh ... water is so cold here, everyone wears a wetsuit! Although I always wear a Speedo under mine. :)

Same here, it's far too cold to wear just a Speedo but I do wear one under my wetsuit.

I've often thought, wearing a wetsuit is a great way to wear a speedo, even if no one sees it, you still know you have one on.......

Wetsuits are a great way to wear a speedo but most of the time the water is warm enough here so guys just surf in boardshorts. I think if I do end up taking lessons I will wear my speedo solar.

Surfing/paddleboard/surfski in a speedo is something I have always wanted to do, but I think i'd have to be a better surfer to pull it off..

If I were a surfer, wind surfer or kite surfer, I for sure would rather do it in a speedo. I think it would be a rush! By the way, lots more speedo surfer pics at www.surfbriefs.tumblr.com. I'm guessing most of them were taken in Australia. God bless you Aussies for preferring to wear speedos when recreating and competing in your water sports!

Wow, diveguy, that's actually one of the blogs I run! I've put a lot of work into finding pics of guys who surf in speedos... it was really funny to see someone mention it. Thanks :)
Anyway, it seems like what you all said is true- its usually too cold in the ocean to just wear speedos. Most guys who do wear speedos are in warmer parts. Surf lifeguards and surf rowers seem to wear them almost all the time, for some reason, even though it's probably just as cold as surfing.
