A friendly Hello from an Ohio, USA girl who prefers thongs at the beach and her men in Speedos or less. Here in Ohio, men and women can wear thongs or G-strings at the public beaches and women can go topfree also, so if you catch me on the beach, I often am topfree and wearing only a thong.
I am happily married to a great man who's also into thongs. When thongs absolutely can not be worn he will slip into his Speedos. He has thongs and speedos from all over the globe including some from Austrailia. Our goal is to someday visit Austrailia for a few weeks on holiday.
Why did I join? To check out the men's pictures of course, and to maybe give a little female input from time to time. I also hope to find links to new swimwear, both for me and my husband, and learn more about the speedo and thong friendliest places to visit on an Austrailian vacation.

Hi - Not to sound stupid but I am from OH also and have no idea what you are talking about. I have been to one beach in OH and that was at the Great Lakes and it was for sure not topless there. Not sure what other beaches you mean except for private ones possibly at lakes in OH. Otherwise I do not ever see men and women around in thongs or bikinis. I have seen the speedos but even topless and nude only occurs in different parts of the country. Regardless of where you are from thanks for joining and have some fun but also let me know where these beaches are?
Thongs are LEGAL at all Ohio State Beaches and Parks. Go to http://www.ohiodnr.com/contactform.asp?ref=/parks/ and ask if you want. You will be told that thongs are okay. You can also check about topfree beach use.
A good resource for where topfreedom is accepted is http://www.topfreedom.com. They have an index of countries, cities, etc. and reports sent in about topfreedom in each area. Be aware these reports are not checked out, and some appear to be questionable. Still, if a specific place gets a lot of reports from a lot of people, chances are good the spot is at least tollerant of topfree women.
A good resource for thong wearing in Ohio is http://home.att.net/~saran/sun-t/. While this site only lists a few places, I can assure you that topfreedom and thong use are acceptable at many other State parks.
Or check any naturalist website or google for "thong friendly beach" and Ohio.
Indiana (a state immediately adjacent to Ohio for those outside our area) is NOT thong friendly. Wearing a thong or going topfree can result in prosecution.
Several attempts have been made to outlaw thongs in Ohio, but none passed the Ohio congress. Rangers who work at parks with lakes and beaches now take a special course to insure they know the rights of thongers and topfree women, and how to deal with people who complain about them. The rangers can not ask you to leave, ask you to cover up, tell you to move, or threaten legal actions as long as your "private parts" or genitals are covered. This rule is the same for men and women, so some women get by with some awfully skimpy swimsuits! What many people can not believe is that if someone gets out of hand when complaining, threatens a thonger or women who is topfree, or questions the athority of the Ranger, he or she can be arrested for disturbing the peace or on other charges.
While thongs are legal at all State parks, the other beach-goers at some are more friendly to thongers and topfree women than others. Ohio has a lot of space and over 70 state parks, but there are thong friendly beaches in most areas. Even at the most thong friendly State parks on the days with the most thongers, you will probably see only about 5% of the beach users wearing thongs. Any more than this would be very unusual.

A quick clarification and then a response to Adidas_23.
I should have said "Ohio STATE Parks" when describing where thongs and topfreedom can be done. County, Township, Municipal, and Private parks can make up their own rules -- Some have, some have not, so check if the park is not an actual Ohio State Park. As it has been explained to me, the Ohio Constitution does not permit lower governments to trump Ohio law (or lack thereof). As an example, a County where a State Park is located can not ban thongs and enforce this law within the State parks. The ban might apply elsewhere in the county, but not in the State Parks.
Adidas_23 is right about Ohio's water parks and amusement parks. The big ones are private companies and make up their own rules, which usually exclude thongers. They take the attitude that their customers will have a "better" time if men and women are not running around the water parks in thongs, just like they sometimes have rules about Men having to were shirts in certain areas. Paramont's Kings Island, near Cincinatti, last year had a rule in it's water park -- no swim trunks below the knees. I don't quite understand what the logic was behind this rule, but I did see a few men in Speedos there last year.
There are many small water parks (one or two slides) with a small pool or lake in the state. These are scattered around the state, and these are run by families or small companies. In the last 10 years or so many cities and counties have built their own community waterparks, subsidized by taxpayer money, which is in direct competition with the small independant waterparks. It's nice for the city folks, having the water park close enough the kids can ride their bikes to them or walk, but this has hurt the private establishments a lot.
With business falling, some of the smaller parks are trying new things to get business; rock and rap shows in the evening, contests, baby sitting services, pet kennels and pet swim areas, camp grounds, canoe and other boat rentals, etc. Many have no rules about thongers and just take an "its a swimsuit, isn't it" type attitude.
Unfortunately, there are those who have pushed these people a little to far, women who have worn lacy thong undies instead of a real swimsuit, men wearing Koala type exposure suits, etc. Sure, there is no rule that says they can't wear them, but as others complain and they investigate, they are likely to forbid thongs in the future. Several already have.
Remember while Ohio certainly is a divided state politically (elections are almost always unpredictable here) the more liberal people live in the cities, large and small. Rural communities where lakes, resorts, and State Parks are located are in the country. Most people in the city do not go to the country to swim -- there are pools in town after all, gas is expensive, it takes a long time to get there, etc. Because of this, the majority of the people who visit the parks are locals, often traveling less than 15 miles, and the majority of these people are someplace between conservative and very conservative.
They are mostly not overly outspoken, and will accept thongs, speedos, and topfreedom as long at the people wearing them are not acting outragiously, but they are not exactly thrilled by the whole thing. If they had their way, thongs and speedos would be outlawed (but the Majority of politicians are more liberal and have never passed such legislation, even after 4 tries in 10 years). So they sit there, some not really caring one way or the other, some slightly miffed but not wanting to cause trouble, and a very small minority wanting to challenge thongers. At State parks, they can heckel a bit, but not do much more, but at private establishments, their complaints are heard more clearly by the owners who don't want to loose any more business.
The bottom line (pun intended) is if I go to a state park, I wear whatever I feel like as long as my "private parts" are covered. Sometimes I go topfree, sometimes not, but usually I will wear a thong. When I visit a private place where thongs are permitted, I do not push the limits. I do not wear costumes that would be illegal at the state parks or make a big deal about anything. I act just like most other women would act if they were wearing a regular bikini. I swim, maybe read or eat, and most people, including the private park employees accept this and are just as nice as they would be to anyone else. I consider the private park where thongs are permitted (or topfreedom permitted) to be a rare place and someplace to encourage others to wear skimpier swimwear but not a place to see how far a swimsuit can go.
