G'day everyone!
I'm Alex, mid 30's, bisex, married, two sons. Love thongs, lycra, and speedos but never wore them in public, haven't found the courage for ir.
What I do wear are squarecuts.

Hi there, welcome. I am sure when you see everyone on here wearing their speedos you will want to do the same!

I already want to do the same Scottiebum, its the double standards what stops me.

Welcome! I've been to Mexico and I've seen men wearing speedos. On lots of the Mexican cinema that I've seen on spanish language TV channels, I've seen many male characters wearing speedos. I thought that Mexico was a speedo friendly culture, am I mistaken?

Yea, I was thinking the same thing too but maybe it's because we stayed in a tourist central are - Cancun. I was there 3 yrs ago and I was taken back by how many I saw on the beach.. it was way more than just a few here and there.

Well, that's right, speedos may be a little more common at Riviera Maya because of the european visitors, but where I live (Guadalajara, west México) is not.
There're beautiful beaches near but almost no one in speedos. There is when double standards come.
1. It's ok to do or wear whatever you want IF you are a foreign tourist, but not the same for the locals.
2. It's ok for women to wear the skimpiest swimwear, no matter their body type, but if a man wants to wear a speedo, he must have a ripped body.
3. It's ok for male to wear speedos or less in TV shows, but in real life its considered grotesque.
Also there are the stupid stigma: only gay man wears speedos (or thongs, or anything smaller than boxers).
Last, my wife isn't the most supportive person about this subject. Although she wears thong bikinis at the beach (I love that of course) she thinks men should wear board shorts.

That's sad, sorry to hear that. Seems like it must be a similar common problem that all of us speedo lovers experience all across North America.

In a way since you have a wife you probably can just choose to ignore people. But I can understand. When I visit my island I am or feel like the only local that wears them on the beach
