Older speedo lover in U.S.

Was watching the Olympics and that made me think how much I like Speedos. I'm older and in my sixties. Bought my first pair in college--Speedo Brand nylon splice.
Still about the same height/weight as then. And still think Speedos are cool.
Just here to support the style. People are buying them. You just don't see them much.
Some awesome fit guys here. Exercise and eat right, and you can wear them for life.
Thanks to Dave for this Forum.
Since these posts can be edited. I'm adding the Portsea pic I put in the photo section

Welcome to the forum Thom. Great to have you here.
Sounds like you're keeping healthy and fit, and continue to rock a speedo. Post some pics when you get a chance!

Hey thanks Budgy!! You look great in those Aussiebums. I finally got the jpg sized right and uploaded me in my Portseas in the photo section and then I edited it in for this thread. Had to check the Aussiebum web site to get the name right.

Hey thanks Baltspeed and SoCal! The hardest thing is to avoid carbs. What I miss is the ab definition I had in college. I took it for granted.

Welcome aboard and thanks for joining! I'm 54 so I'm among the older crowd here but you're an inspiration! I too love speedos so much but didn't start wearing one until my very late 20s. Speedo lover forever!

Hey thanks diveguy! Awesome. You can start at any age. I've done a little snorkeling. Never tried SCUBA. I've had some inner ear problems since I was a kid, but they've been better recently.

Snorkeling in a speedo is the best! I'm also partial to freediving. I spent a lot of time in Hawaii in and
under the water in a little black speedo, and those times were some of my most cherished!

Yeah being in the water has a real sense of freedom. I've done some surface snorkeling in Florida in my speedos. I love the feel of just gliding along. I can't stand snorkeling in board shorts or even short boxers. It's a drag...literally. Never tried freediving. Competitive freediving can get pretty extreme.

Welcome to the club!
Where do you snorkel? Our water is turbid most days.

Hey thanks Red!! A reef off of Lantana in SoFL. I go with friends who know the area and when to get into the water. I don't, unfortunately. Even in winter, the water never gets much below 70. I have a shorty wet suit for those days. You're in Central FL?

Exercise and eat right aren't a guarantee. If you can find the article I wrote here in the speedo talk section, entitled, Destruction of my Speedo Confidence, you will know what I mean.

I'll look for your article. I agree "eating right" is too generic. The book that helped me the most was "Eat Right For Your Type, " by Peter D'Adamo. It offers nutritional and exercise advice by blood type. That said, I don't think anyone can go wrong by avoiding refined carbs (white sugar, white flour...) Everyone is different. I can tolerate dairy products easily. Other people should avoid them like the plague.
I'd look for a good naturopathic physician in Toronto. We don't have many down here.

Oh, another U, S of A'r, we are not hopelessly lost on becoming a speedo wearing nation!
Thom, you make me proud that you have been into speedos for so many years, welcome!

Hey thanks Snowbrief!!! I'm impressed you're into speedos in Minnesota. In Boston they have a Christmas charity run in red speedos. Never done that though.

Yes, central Florida. Have to drive and hour south or north to get clear water.

Is that caused by the Gulfstream running up against colder northern waters?
