I had them as a kid, but moving to high school, it was just not a thing anymore unless you were professional swimmer. I always had them under my swim shorts.
But when I went to leisure pools alone, I had speedos on. I was the odd one out of course.

Coming to this conversation late- I ordered two pairs of racers and love them. They ain't cheap, but the cut is fantastic. As others have said, the material is polyester and isn't nearly as thin/stretchy as nylon/lycra, but I do like the suits. thanks ill definitely invest in a pair.. sizing ok com...

ive seen some big swim shops or sport shops at outlets.. and didnt get any!
went to taipei and saw arena and they were super expesnive, definitely get them in japan when you are there
